In baseball, the Dodgers are firmly in the driver's seat of their NL Division Series. Yoshinobu Yamamoto outdueled Atlanta ace Chris Sale, and veteran utility man Kiké Hernández delivered the knockout blow — a two-run homer in the fourth that gave Los Angeles a three to one win and a two to one series lead over the Braves.
Over in hockey, the Detroit Red Wings got a dramatic return from Dylan Larkin Tuesday night. The captain had been booed by his own crowd just days after requesting a trade, but he answered his critics the right way — scoring thirteen minutes into his season debut as Detroit knocked off Ottawa five to three at Little Caesars Arena. The boos turned to cheers real fast.
And in a story that could reshape professional basketball globally, Euroleague member clubs this week formally rejected an NBA proposal to merge into a unified NBA Europe operation. Sources told ESPN the offer was turned down across the board, meaning the dream of a single transatlantic league structure hits a significant wall — for now.
