In college football, the AP Top Twenty-Five has reshuffled in a big way. Miami holds firm at number one, but Ohio State climbs to number two after sitting idle this weekend. BYU paid the price for their loss at UCF, tumbling six spots all the way down to number eight. The Buckeyes didn't even play and still moved up — that tells you everything about how the rest of the top ten performed.
Shifting to the sidelines in Raleigh, North Carolina State has parted ways with head coach Dave Doren following a road loss to Stanford. And now the buzz around Wolfpack football is getting louder — Philip Rivers' name is being floated as a potential candidate to lead the program. What started as distant smoke is apparently turning into something real. NC State hasn't made a coaching move like this since Tom O'Brien was let go back in twenty twelve.
And in the NBA, Joel Embiid will sit out Sunday's matchup against Detroit, dealing with right plantar fasciitis. This comes just one night after he put up a triple-double in Philadelphia's win over Milwaukee. The Sixers are managing him carefully, but any time Embiid misses time, the entire Eastern Conference takes notice.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
