Kimi Antonelli is a world champion. The twenty-year-old Mercedes driver clinched Formula One's drivers title at Mexico City, finishing third behind Verstappen and Hamilton to seal it with four races to spare. He is the youngest champion in the sport's history, and the first Italian to win the title in seven decades. Remarkable.
Speaking of Mexico City, Max Verstappen took the win after capitalizing on an early battle between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The two Ferraris tangled early, and Verstappen needed no second invitation, threading through to lead and never really looking back. Another clinical performance from the four-time champion.
But not everyone left Mexico smiling. Oscar Piastri was handed a post-race penalty that stripped him of his points finish after stewards ruled he was responsible for a collision with Racing Bulls' Arvid Lindblad at turn one. The contact sent Lindblad briefly airborne and into the barriers. Piastri brought the car home but the points are gone.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
