You're tuned in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
History was made at altitude in Mexico City, where twenty-year-old Kimi Antonelli became Formula One's youngest world champion ever, clinching the title with a composed third-place finish after starting fifth on the grid. The Mercedes youngster didn't need to win — he just needed to survive, and he did it in style.
The race win itself went to Max Verstappen, who capitalized brilliantly on a first-lap collision between the Ferrari teammates. Charles Leclerc attacked Lewis Hamilton into the opening corners, both braked too late, and the chaos handed Verstappen clean air. He jumped Leclerc in the pitstops on lap twenty-eight and never looked back, fending off Hamilton across seventy-one laps to take his third victory of the season.
Meanwhile, shifting to the NFL, a frightening moment in Detroit as Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was stretchered off the field on a backboard during the win over Minnesota with a neck injury. Tom Brady has since weighed in with words of support. Campbell has been transported to hospital and is undergoing further evaluation — a sobering reminder of the physical cost of the game.
