Golden State made history Saturday night, and they did it fast. Gabby Williams dropped thirty points as the Valkyries outlasted the Atlanta Dream sixty-eight to sixty-three in Game Seven to claim the franchise's first ever WNBA championship. Two years in, one title won — the owner promised a dynasty, and right now, nobody's laughing at that promise.
Shifting to college football, number one Miami needed every last second to hold off North Carolina, escaping with a thirty-eight to thirty-five win after scoring twice in the final eight minutes. Darian Mensah threw three touchdowns for the Hurricanes, but the bigger story might be on the other sideline — the Tar Heels had the lead and let it go, continuing a troubling pattern of fourth-quarter collapses under Bill Belichick that's becoming impossible to ignore.
Meanwhile in Austin, Texas made Halloween look easy. The Longhorns defense was dominant from the opening snap, powering UT to a thirty-one to three demolition of Mississippi State. The Longhorns never trailed, and edge rusher Zina Umeozulu made the Bulldogs' quarterback's night absolutely miserable.
