Down in Tampa, the Rays are making a statement about their future. The club exercised their twenty million dollar option on ace right-hander Drew Rasmussen, keeping him in St. Petersburg through two thousand twenty seven. That's a significant commitment from an organization that doesn't throw money around lightly, and it signals they believe Rasmussen is the anchor of their rotation going forward.
Shifting to the ice, the Dylan Larkin trade saga in Detroit just got a new chapter. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman is reporting that Larkin could be modifying his ten-team no-trade list within the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours, with both additions and removals potentially on the table. That kind of movement suggests something real is developing, and Red Wings fans should be bracing for a significant announcement very soon.
And in college football, Georgia is back and the rest of the country has every reason to be concerned. Kirby Smart's Bulldogs came out of their bye week following that stunning loss and dismantled Florida in Atlanta, looking every bit like the dominant machine we've come to expect. When Smart gets two weeks and a grudge match, the result is usually not pretty for the other sideline.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
