The Eastern Conference is drawing serious attention before a single ball tips off, and CBS Sports is already questioning whether the Knicks and Sixers are being overvalued heading into the new season. After a wild offseason that reshuffled rosters across the board, the East looks genuinely unpredictable, and Toronto may be more dangerous than anyone is giving them credit for right now.
Shifting to the NFL, Baker Mayfield is not practicing today ahead of Tampa Bay's Week six matchup against Pittsburgh, and that is a significant development. The Buccaneers will need to game plan around real uncertainty at quarterback, and the Steelers have to be licking their chops knowing their preparation just got a whole lot more complicated heading into Sunday.
And out in Los Angeles, the Dodgers are staring down an oh and three hole in the NLCS, but don't close the book just yet. Win Game four and the math, while brutal, is not impossible. History says the odds are long, but this is a Dodgers roster built for exactly these moments, and one win changes the entire psychological weight of this series.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
