In Seattle, the Mariners are staring down a serious rebuild of expectations after falling well short in two thousand twenty six. The front office heads into the offseason with money to spend and pitching assets to move, and the cornerstone of it all remains Julio Rodriguez, locked up through two thousand thirty four on that massive one hundred forty four million dollar deal. The bounce-back campaign starts now.
Shifting to the gridiron, the Las Vegas Raiders may have found something real at quarterback. Rookie Fernando Mendoza finally got his shot in Week five against the Vikings, and he wasted zero time making Tyler Shough irrelevant, outproducing him in a single drive after riding the bench all season. The Raiders have a decision to make, and Mendoza just made it a whole lot easier.
And out of Westwood, tough news for UCLA as quarterback Nico Iamaleava is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury during Saturday's win over Oregon. The Bruins got the victory, but losing their signal-caller this deep into the year is a serious blow to whatever postseason ambitions they were building toward.
