You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
In the ALCS, the Cleveland Guardians are flying into St. Petersburg on fumes after a brutal Game five, while the Tampa Bay Rays have been sitting at home for four days. Rest versus rust, as Rays pitcher Griffin Jax put it — and that tension is going to define this series from the jump.
Meanwhile in Washington, the Commanders had the New York Giants right where they wanted them in overtime — and then completely fell apart on the final play, botching the clock and killing any chance at a game-winning field goal. Quarterback Jayden Daniels stood up and said it plainly: it's on me. Owner Josh Harris was reportedly in disbelief. The tie stings, and accountability only helps so much.
And out in Detroit, Jahmyr Gibbs is rewriting history. Two touchdowns in the Lions' forty-five to twenty-one demolition of the Arizona Cardinals pushed Gibbs past Hall of Famer Barry Sanders for the most touchdowns scored before age twenty-five in NFL history. He doesn't turn twenty-five until March, and Detroit still has thirteen games to play. The kid is just getting started.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
