LeBron James is officially a Philadelphia 76er. The four-time champion and former MVP has signed his contract with Philly, making it official after the Sixers outbid the Warriors, the Heat, and the Cavaliers for his services. Eight million dollars to bring the king to the city of brotherly love — and the Eastern Conference just got a whole lot more interesting.
Shifting to the diamond, Freddy Peralta took the mound for the Mets on Sunday knowing it could be his last start in New York. With the trade deadline bearing down and the Mets out of postseason contention, the right-hander said simply, "I've let them down." It's a gut-punch exit for a pitcher who gave everything in that uniform.
And over in Indianapolis, Chase Briscoe delivered at home. The Mitchell, Indiana native charged through the field at the Brickyard four hundred and crossed the line in fourth place — his best Brickyard finish yet after placing eighteenth and twenty-fourth in his two previous appearances. The home crowd got exactly what they came to see.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
