You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
College football in two thousand twenty six continues to eat its own. Miami was the latest number one to fall, dropping a thirty one to twenty four decision to Notre Dame after going down twenty four to three in the first half. Malachi Toney was out, but that deficit was all on the Hurricane defense, and now the Hurricanes are done atop the polls.
Which brings us to the chaos that keeps reshaping this playoff picture. Four top ten teams went down on Shake-up Saturday, and somehow, someway, only two unbeaten teams remain standing in all of college football. Both of them start with the letter U — UCLA and Utah are your last perfect squads, and the selection committee has some serious work ahead of them projecting who lands where in the top twelve.
Meanwhile in the NHL, Connor McDavid is doing things that simply do not belong in the same conversation as the rest of the league. Three more points against Vancouver gives the Edmonton superstar a record-setting pace to open the season, and the Oilers are making it very clear they intend to be a problem for everyone this year.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
