You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
In the NHL, a brutal start in Long Island tonight as Islanders forward Emil Heineman was tossed just two minutes and twenty-two seconds into the first period against Edmonton. A knee-on-knee hit on Oilers winger Isaac Howard left Howard heading to the dressing room, and Heineman heading to the showers early with a five-minute major and a game misconduct.
Shifting to Tampa Bay, the Kucherov situation is the talk of the league after Friday's trade request sent shockwaves through the hockey world. But Lightning coach Jon Cooper stepped to the mic and said his star winger is still committed to the organization this season. Whether that holds through the deadline is another conversation entirely, but for now Cooper is keeping the door open and the rhetoric calm.
And over in Green Bay, the NFL is expanding its investigation into Packers running back Josh Jacobs after additional allegations of physical and verbal abuse surfaced through a public records release from the Hobart and Lawrence Police Department. The league confirmed it will review the new information, adding another layer to what is already a serious and developing situation around one of the game's marquee backs.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
