Milwaukee is on the board. The Brewers took Game one of the World Series three to two over the Tampa Bay Rays in a finish that nearly gave everyone a heart attack. Trevor Megill struck out Jonny DeLuca with runners on second and third to slam the door in the ninth, and rookie Jacob Misiorowski turned heads with a hundred and three point five mile per hour fastball that broke records. Forty-four years in the making, and Milwaukee delivered.
But the story almost got overshadowed by the chaos before that final out. An overturned double play in the ninth kept Tampa's hopes alive and had Brewers fans gripping their seats. Jackson Chourio and William Contreras each had two hits to fuel the offense, and Aaron Ashby was brilliant in relief. Game two is Saturday, and this series already has the feel of something special.
Shifting to the hardwood, New Orleans got a scare Friday night in Utah when starting center Yves Missi went down with a left leg injury in the second quarter and had to be helped off the court. The severity is not yet known, but losing your anchor in the paint is never a small thing, and the Pelicans will be watching that situation closely heading into the week.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
