The World Series is barely off the ground and Jacob Misiorowski has already made history. The Milwaukee Brewers right-hander threw the fastest pitch ever recorded in a Fall Classic, uncorking one hundred three point five miles per hour on the very first offering of the series. Not a warm-up, not a mid-game moment — the first pitch. Statement made, record shattered, just like that.
Shifting to the ice, the Toronto Maple Leafs carry a three-game win streak into Edmonton Saturday night for a heavyweight collision with the Oilers. The storyline everyone's watching is Mike Babcock stepping back into a building where he once built a dynasty. Toronto has momentum, Edmonton has Connor McDavid. Something's gotta give, and this one has all the makings of a genuine measuring-stick moment for both clubs.
And in hockey's other marquee matchup tonight, the Boston Bruins are riding a torrid stretch of play as they welcome the San Jose Sharks to TD Garden. Boston is locked in after a long road trip that brought this group closer together, and they're not looking to let that energy dissipate at home. The Sharks have been quietly improving, but the Bruins right now feel like a team that simply does not want to lose.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
