You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
The NCAA is not playing around. The organization filed a federal lawsuit against Ohio Governor Mike DeWine just three days after he signed an executive order letting Ohio colleges decide whether to grant a fifth year of eligibility to athletes who graduated high school in two thousand twenty two. This one's heading to federal court fast.
Shifting to the NFL, the Jets are getting some good news and some bad news heading into Sunday against the Patriots. Rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Junior is cleared to go despite the ankle issue, but running back Breece Hall and wideout Adonai Mitchell are both ruled out. New York will need Cooper to step up in a big way. On the other sideline, Adam Schefter says he's leaning toward A.J. Brown suiting up for New England, noting the star receiver has been progressing well and he hasn't heard anything to suggest otherwise. That matchup just got a lot more interesting if Brown is on the field.
And in Milwaukee, the whole city is still buzzing after the Brewers swept their way to a pennant. The Milwaukee Art Museum got in on the celebration, posting a photo of three brooms captioned sweep, sweep, sweep. When the art world starts talking baseball, you know something special happened.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
