You're tuned in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
Sam Darnold is putting it plainly — he knows he's hurting his team. The Vikings quarterback stood in front of the cameras and owned it, saying flat out that his turnover problem is unfair to everyone around him and that he has to be better. No deflection, no spin, just accountability. The question now is whether the words translate to cleaner football on Sundays.
Across the Atlantic, Sonay Kartal is making serious noise at the Wuhan Open. The twenty-four-year-old Brit just knocked out fifth seed Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals, and this is someone who spent more than six months sidelined with a stress fracture. She was sitting at one hundred seventy in the world rankings coming in, but she is playing like someone who belongs at the very top of the draw. A semifinal berth and momentum that is very hard to ignore.
And in Formula One, Haas has made its move for two thousand twenty seven. Ferrari junior Rafael Camara is locked in on a multi-year deal, replacing Esteban Ocon, and the team says it wasn't even close — one test day in their Testing of Previous Cars programme made Camara the crystal clear choice. One day, one decision, one future locked in.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
