The Dodgers' dynasty is done. Milwaukee swept Los Angeles out of the NLCS in four games, capping it Wednesday night with a six to four win that wasn't nearly as close as that score suggests. Jake Bauers, Garrett Mitchell, and Aaron Ashby were the names that ended a two-time defending champion's run, and L.A. had nothing to say about it. The Brewers are headed to the World Series.
Shifting to the NFL, Denver's defense bailed out Bo Nix and an offense that could barely get out of its own way Thursday night against Seattle. Five sacks, seventeen quarterback hits, two interceptions — the Broncos' defense was suffocating, and it had to be, because one hundred sixty eight total net yards from the offense is not a recipe for winning football. Denver found a way anyway.
And in Dallas, Quinnen Williams is stepping up and taking the heat for a Cowboys defense that simply hasn't delivered through the first five weeks of the season. Williams is owning it publicly, which matters, but Dallas sits at two and three and ownership alone won't fix what's broken on that side of the ball.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
