Audrey Werro is rewriting the record books. The Swiss middle-distance runner has transformed herself into the dominant force in eight hundred metre running, posting three of the top five fastest times in history and claiming a European title, a second Diamond League Final, and the inaugural World Ultimate Championships all in two thousand twenty six. Keely Hodgkinson set a world indoor record back in March, but Werro has answered every single time it mattered outdoors. This rivalry is appointment viewing.
Shifting to the ring, Fabio Wardley wants Daniel Dubois back in front of him, and badly. Wardley walked out of their May firefight battered, eye swollen shut, nose broken, the WBO title gone — but he was seconds away from ending it early. That near-miss is the fuel driving his push for a rematch, and the hunger behind those eyes suggests this story is far from finished.
And in the AFC, there are real questions surrounding the Asian Cup scheduled for January in Saudi Arabia. Houthi attacks on the host nation have the continent's football leadership openly discussing a potential postponement to two thousand twenty eight. AFC president Sheikh Salman says there is no hurry to decide, but the clock on that decision is ticking louder every day.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
