Atlanta is going back to the WNBA Finals for the first time in over a decade. The Dream closed out New York with an eighty-five to eighty-three win in Game three, completing a sweep of the Liberty and punching their ticket to the championship stage they haven't seen since two thousand thirteen. This team earned it.
Shifting to the ice, Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar is sitting down for two games after the NHL dropped the hammer Friday night. Nazar was suspended without pay for an illegal check to the head of Islanders forward Bo Horvat, a hit that came with under two minutes left in New York's four to one victory Thursday. He'd already been assessed a match penalty on the play.
And out in the desert, Arizona is keeping its hitting staff intact heading into next season. Joe Mather will return as the Diamondbacks' hitting coach for a sixth year, giving Torey Lovullo some continuity after the club parted ways with pitching coach Brian Kaplan earlier this month. Lovullo himself just got a two-year extension, so the direction in Arizona is starting to take shape.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
