You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
First up, a frightening scene out of Los Angeles Saturday night as Oregon quarterback Dante Moore took a violent hit against Southern California and went down immediately in the fencing position. Coach Dan Lanning confirmed Sunday that Moore suffered a concussion but, crucially, no additional injuries — a significant relief after what everyone in that stadium feared was far worse.
Shifting to the gridiron, the Minnesota Vikings handed Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a twenty-three to sixteen loss, but the story coming out of that game isn't the final score. Mayfield went down late with an injury that now has Buccaneers fans holding their breath heading into a stretch of the season where Tampa Bay can't afford to lose ground.
And baseball's postseason picture is officially locked in. Game one hundred sixty-two delivered its share of drama, with the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros both saving their seasons on the final day of the regular season. All four Wild Card Series kick off Tuesday, September twenty-ninth, and if you believe the experts, this October is going to be one worth watching all the way through to Halloween.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
