Shifting to the roads of Berlin, Ethiopia's Tigst Assefa put on a performance for the ages at the Berlin Marathon, winning the women's race in a course-record two hours, eleven minutes and four seconds. She was tracking the world record pace deep into the race before a late injury forced her into a limp through the final kilometers. Still, she crossed the line first and posted a personal best, just barely missing Ruth Chepng'etich's world record of two hours, nine minutes and fifty-six seconds set at Chicago. Heartbreaking and brilliant at the same time.
And in boxing, Takuma Inoue puts his WBC bantamweight title on the line in Tokyo today against Tenshin Nasukawa in a highly anticipated rematch. Inoue won their first meeting by decision ten months ago, but Nasukawa has looked sharp since then. Fight fans can catch it live on DAZN starting at four in the morning Eastern.
