You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
Jalen Brunson took his talents from Madison Square Garden all the way to 30 Rock Saturday night, hosting the season premiere of SNL. He brought the whole crew with him — Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Josh Hart sitting in the audience, which honestly says everything about the culture building in New York right now.
Shifting to college football, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning didn't just beat USC on Saturday night, he made sure they felt it. The Ducks won forty-one to twenty-seven at the LA Memorial Coliseum, their fifth straight win over the Trojans, and Lanning had some pointed words for the rival program when it was over. Oregon did it without starting quarterback Dante Moore for much of the game, which makes the statement even louder.
And down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell is already managing expectations the right way. He said flat out there are things to fix, things to sharpen, but that this offense is only going to get better week by week. For a program ranked nationally on that side of the ball, that kind of hunger from your signal caller is exactly what you want to hear heading deeper into the season.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
