In Baltimore, the Ravens are dealing with a situation off the field. Wide receiver Rashod Bateman was arrested back in June on charges of family violence stemming from an incident in Georgia. The team has notified the NFL, and the league says the case is currently under review. Bateman is heading into his sixth season with Baltimore, and this cloud is not going anywhere fast.
Shifting to Seattle, the Mariners are generating some genuine buzz heading into the weekend. Prized left-hander Kade Anderson is set to make his major league debut Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. Manager Dan Wilson called the club excited, and that feels like an understatement for a franchise that has been waiting on this kid. The stage is set, and all eyes will be on that mound.
And on the hardwood, new Charlotte Hornet Naz Reid has been putting in serious work this offseason. Reid was spotted at open gym runs this summer alongside Anthony Davis, Trae Young, Chet Holmgren, Klay Thompson, and number one overall pick AJ Dybantsa. Over twenty players in attendance, and Reid was right there in the mix. Charlotte made a real move acquiring him, and he is clearly not taking the moment lightly.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
