You're tuned in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
Tarik Skubal made his highly anticipated Dodgers debut Tuesday night, and while the numbers looked solid — six innings of work against the Cubs — the result did not. Chicago walked away with a five to one victory, handing Skubal the loss despite a performance that showed plenty of promise in his first outing in Dodger blue.
Shifting over to Houston, the Astros took care of business against the Blue Jays in a seven to two win. Jose Altuve was everywhere, picking up three hits and two RBIs, including an RBI single in the fifth that caught a lucky break off the glove of Toronto third baseman Kazuma Okamoto. Taylor Tremmell put the exclamation point on the night with a three-run home run.
And over in Boston, the Red Sox bats are absolutely on fire right now. They dropped six runs in the first inning and then came back and did it again in the sixth, rolling over the visiting White Sox fourteen to two. When a team scores six runs twice in the same game, that is not a hot streak — that is a statement.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
