Welcome to Markets Desk, here's what's moving the tape right now.
Nvidia slipped today as Wall Street sharpened its focus on just how tightly the chipmaker's fortunes are now bound to OpenAI's trajectory. That concentration risk is real — when one customer relationship begins to define a growth story, investors start asking hard questions about diversification and downside exposure.
Shifting to macro, oil dropped more than two percent after signals emerged that the standoff between Washington and Tehran may be cooling. Trump, speaking aboard Air Force One en route to Michigan, pushed back on reports of weapons shortages, but the market read the diplomatic tone as a genuine de-escalation signal, and crude responded accordingly.
And on rates, new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is threading a careful needle. June's Consumer Price Index did fall, but much of that softness came from lower gasoline prices — not the kind of broad disinflation the Fed needs to justify cuts. Warsh's framing suggests the committee remains patient, and traders pricing in near-term relief may be getting ahead of the data.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
