Commodities took a broad hit Monday, with soybeans leading the damage. Futures fell as much as forty and a half cents a bushel, dragged down by an improving weather forecast across growing regions and weakness in both soymeal and soy oil. Cash beans settled near eleven dollars and seventy-four cents nationally.
The wheat complex followed suit, with Chicago soft red winter contracts losing eleven to eighteen cents on the session and Kansas City hard red winter off ten to sixteen cents. Minneapolis spring wheat held up slightly better but still closed lower, reflecting the same macro headwinds pressuring the broader agricultural space.
In energy equities, Chevron shares slumped Monday, a reminder that even an integrated major lives and dies by its exploration and production results. When crude prices soften or production outlooks disappoint, the upstream exposure that drives margins becomes a liability rather than a cushion, and the stock reflects that vulnerability quickly.
