You're tuned in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
Victor Wembanyama did something Wednesday night that no human being in the history of this league has ever done. Fifty-two points, twenty-four rebounds, eight blocks — in a one-point Spurs win over Dallas. Bob McAdoo is the only player who ever came close, and Wembanyama didn't just match him, he lapped him. This was a generational performance, full stop.
Speaking of nights that'll get talked about, Luka Dončić was not in the mood in Sacramento. Late in the third quarter of the Lakers' hundred-sixteen to one-oh-three win over the Kings, Luka stopped play entirely, waved down officials and security, and had a courtside fan removed from the building. No details yet on what was said, but Dončić made clear he wasn't going to let it slide, and the Lakers walked out with the win anyway.
And Tim Hardaway Senior is not holding back on Giannis Antetokounmpo's rough start in Miami. While heaping praise on Cooper Flagg, Hardaway took direct shots at the Greek Freak, suggesting the production simply hasn't matched the price tag. It's early, but the noise around Giannis in South Beach is already getting loud.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
