Welcome to Markets Desk, here's what's moving right now.
Grain markets took a broad hit Tuesday, with corn and wheat both closing lower as traders shifted into a risk-off posture across the commodity complex. Corn futures fell three and a quarter to five and three quarter cents across the board, with the national cash price settling at four dollars and six and three quarter cents. Wheat followed suit, with Kansas City hard red winter contracts leading the decline, down eight and a half to eleven cents on the session.
Pivoting to tech and labor, Amazon continues reshaping its corporate workforce even as CEO Andy Jassy touts record margins and strong retail performance. The company has shed roughly thirty thousand corporate positions over the past year, redirecting capital toward artificial intelligence, robotics, and consumer technology. The message from leadership is efficiency, but the headcount reductions tell a more complicated story.
And in crypto, Binance disclosed it blocked fifty-seven suspected North Korea-linked cyber threats in two thousand twenty six, yet still suffered a breach. Attackers used a fake job interview scheme, complete with fabricated identities and malicious software, to compromise an engineer and gain access to systems connected to a six point three four billion dollar cryptocurrency theft. Even the most defended platforms remain vulnerable to social engineering.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
