You're tuned into Sports Desk, let's get into it.
Caleb Williams is finding his middle ground with the NFL. The Bears quarterback, who was staring down nearly twelve thousand dollars in weekly fines for wearing unauthorized cleats, showed up Monday in all-black kicks with the logo blacked out entirely. Williams called it an effort to calm things down, a smart pivot from a young signal-caller who clearly still wants to make his statement without burning his wallet every Sunday.
Over in the NBA, Jaylen Brown and the Philadelphia seventy-sixers are sitting at seven and one, and somehow Brown is telling anyone who'll listen that this team hasn't even hit its ceiling yet. That's a terrifying thought for the rest of the Eastern Conference. When a squad is rolling at that clip and the players themselves say they're still a work in progress, the rest of the league has every reason to pay attention.
And Stephen Curry is doing what Stephen Curry does. Thirty-four points, seven assists, and another Golden State win — their fifth straight — this time a hard-fought one sixteen to one thirteen over Phoenix at Chase Center. Brandin Podziemski added twenty on fifty percent shooting, and the Warriors are quietly building something worth watching again.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
