Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream evened the WNBA Finals at one game apiece, dismantling the Golden State Valkyries seventy-nine to sixty-five in Game Two. Reese, who called herself out for being too passive in the series opener, came back with a vengeance, and veteran DeWanna Bonner will tell you — when Reese is locked in, this Dream team is a completely different animal. Series shifts to Atlanta.
Meanwhile in San Francisco on Monday Night Football, the forty-niners took a brutal hit when wide receiver Mike Evans was ruled out against Washington with an Achilles injury. Evans left in the second quarter after making a catch, walked gingerly to the tunnel, and never came back. Cameras caught him grabbing his left Achilles, and that is exactly the kind of image no fanbase wants to see under the bright lights.
On the business side of the NBA, Minnesota locked up Jaden McDaniels on a one-year, forty million dollar extension running through twenty twenty-nine to thirty. McDaniels has been electric in the preseason — nearly twenty-five points per game in under twenty-one minutes — and in the Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball era, his two-way versatility is exactly the piece the Timberwolves cannot afford to lose.
