Anthony Davis is putting his reputation on the line before the two thousand twenty six to twenty seven NBA season even tips off, telling Sporting News he genuinely believes the Washington Wizards can crack the playoffs. With Trae Young running the offense and teenage phenom AJ Dybantsa drawing massive expectations, Davis isn't just being polite — he sees a real contender taking shape in the nation's capital.
Shifting to the pitch, the Ballon d'Or race is down to its final week before the ceremony in London, and Spain's World Cup final victory over Argentina has thrown rocket fuel on the candidacies of Rodri and Lamine Yamal. Both men were central to that triumph and to Barcelona's perfect start to the new campaign, making this one of the most compelling individual races in years.
And over in the NFL, CJ Gardner-Johnson's afternoon ended early and badly — new footage confirming the Bills safety did in fact spit during Sunday's game against the Raiders, leading to an ejection that left Buffalo shorthanded at a critical moment. The league will almost certainly be reviewing the tape, and a suspension could be coming down the pipeline.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
