You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
Durham Smythe's season is over before it ever really got started. The Ravens tight end tore his Achilles in Week four against the Titans, confirmed by Ian Rapoport, and at thirty-one years old on an eight million dollar deal, that is a brutal blow for Baltimore's depth at the position.
Shifting to Seattle, the Mixon comeback story has hit a wall. Adam Schefter reports the Seahawks will not be signing Joe Mixon after his physical raised red flags. The thirty-year-old back missed all of the two thousand twenty-five season with foot injuries and was eyeing a return, but whatever those doctors found was enough for Seattle to walk away entirely.
And in the officiating world, the NFL Referees Association is pushing back hard. The union says it will formally challenge the severity of suspensions handed down to two officials for unprofessional conduct. No word yet on what the conduct involved, but the league and its refs are clearly not on the same page right now.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
