Tarik Skubal went out in one hundred degree heat in Los Angeles and was absolutely untouchable. The Tigers ace held the Braves to one run across six dominant innings, and the Dodgers walked away from Game one of the NLDS with a five to three victory. Los Angeles has the early edge in a series that already has October written all over it.
Meanwhile in Cleveland, the White Sox came to play. Munetaka Murakami and Grant Taylor delivered in the biggest moments as Chicago silenced the Guardians in ALDS Game one. Murakami, who made the leap from Japan's NPB this season, has been a revelation for a White Sox fan base that has been hungry for something to believe in, and right now they have plenty.
Shifting to college football, Minnesota pulled off one of the weekend's most satisfying upsets, taking the Little Brown Jug away from Michigan in a win that sent shockwaves through the Big Ten. Elsewhere, Tennessee's five-star freshman Faizon Brandon got pulled against Auburn, and the backup stepped in and got the job done, a twenty four to fourteen Vols victory that raises real questions about the depth chart going forward.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
