You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
Tony Romo's time behind the CBS microphone is officially over. The network confirmed it will not bring back the former Cowboys quarterback as an NFL game analyst following his arrest for driving while intoxicated back in July. It's a stunning fall for one of the most celebrated color commentators in the business, and CBS now faces a significant booth vacancy heading deeper into the season.
Shifting to the diamond, the American League Division Series is already throwing us a curveball. Chicago's White Sox are going with rookie reliever Hagen Smith as their Game One starter against Cleveland, setting up a fascinating battle of young left-handed arms right out of the gate. It's a bold, unconventional move from a franchise with nothing to lose and everything to prove.
And over in Cleveland, there is cautious relief surrounding Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham after what looked like a serious leg injury sent shockwaves through the fanbase. Reports now indicate he's dealing with an MCL sprain and ankle sprain, and could miss only a few weeks. For a defense that has leaned heavily on the rookie, that timeline is far better than initially feared.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
