You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
Jalen Duren is staying in Detroit, and he's getting paid like it. The twenty-two-year-old center has agreed to a five-year, two-hundred-million-dollar fully guaranteed deal to remain a Piston, ending months of back-and-forth between the two sides. Detroit is betting big on its cornerstone, and Duren said yes.
Meanwhile in the NFL, the Browns took a hit Thursday night hosting Pittsburgh when first-round defensive tackle Mason Graham went down with a knee injury and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Graham had been one of Cleveland's brightest young pieces up front, so the severity of that injury is going to be worth watching closely as the week unfolds.
And in the NHL, Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin did something almost no one in the history of the sport has done — he scored a goal. Shesterkin buried an empty-netter Thursday night, joining just seventeen other goaltenders in NHL history to light the lamp. That is an exclusive club, and Shesterkin now has a membership card.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
