Fellow American wild card Sofia Kenin handled her in straight sets, closing the book on another chapter of one of the sport's most remarkable careers.
Over in the transfer window, Manchester United's pursuit of Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde has stalled hard. Fabrizio Romano reports that United held talks with Barcelona as recently as Sunday, but the Premier League club believes the asking price is simply too steep. With the window closing fast, it's looking like Balde stays at the Camp Nou for now.
And a tough one out of Atlanta — the Falcons have cut defensive end Bralen Trice, a third-round pick from two thousand twenty-four who never once played a regular-season snap. A torn ACL in his very first preseason game wiped out his rookie year, and a reaggravated injury finished the story before it ever really started. Twenty-five years old, and his NFL future is suddenly very much uncertain.
