**Jeremiah 22:11** โ€” *"He will never return."*

Five words. A king exiled. A door sealed by divine decree.

Shallum โ€” also called Jehoahaz โ€” reigned only three months before Pharaoh Necho dragged him to Egypt. He never saw Jerusalem again. Not because circumstance failed him, but because covenant faithfulness had already departed from his house.

The LORD does not speak these words with cruelty. He speaks them with clarity. There are moments when God closes a chapter so completely that straining backward becomes its own form of unfaithfulness.

Shallum's story is a solemn steward's warning: the throne entrusted to us โ€” whether of influence, family, or calling โ€” is held by covenant, not by birthright alone.

What God has sealed, no amount of longing reopens. But what He opens ahead โ€” that is where mercy waits.

Walk with your eyes forward, beloved. The covenant is not behind you.
