**Isaiah 47:9** โ€” *"These two things will overtake you in a moment, in a single day: loss of children, and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and the potency of your spells."*

Babylon trusted her craft more than her covenant. She had built an entire civilization on the confidence that she could manage outcomes โ€” divine, political, personal โ€” through her own ingenuity. God's word through Isaiah was precise: no spell outlasts sovereign judgment.

This is not ancient history. Every generation constructs its own version of Babylon's confidence โ€” the portfolio, the platform, the carefully managed reputation. We sojourn through this life holding things we cannot ultimately keep.

Covenant mercy, however, is different. What God gives through grace, no circumstance can overtake in a single day.

Scripture reminds us that the wisest steward is not the one who controls the most โ€” but the one who abides in the One who holds all things.

Walk with that assurance today.
