**Deuteronomy 18:16** โ *"This is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, 'Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God or see this great fire anymore, so that we will not die!'"*
At Horeb, the fire was real. The voice was real. And Israel recoiled โ not from unbelief, but from the weight of holiness they were not yet prepared to carry.
Scripture reminds us that God, in covenant mercy, honored their limits. He gave them a mediator โ Moses first, and ultimately Christ.
This is grace working through human weakness, not around it. The shepherd does not shame the sheep for trembling at the thunder. He walks ahead of them into it.
Consider the places where you have pulled back from God's voice โ not in rebellion, but in fear. He has not abandoned those thresholds. He meets us there, still speaking, still merciful.
Walk with that truth today.
