**Job 18:7** โ€” *"His vigorous stride is shortened, and his own schemes trip him up."*

Bildad is speaking here about the wicked โ€” but the image is painfully precise: a man moving fast, confident in his own cleverness, until the very plans he laid become the ground beneath his feet that gives way.

Scripture reminds us that self-constructed momentum is fragile. When we build our steps on strategy alone โ€” without covenant alignment, without pausing to seek the Shepherd's counsel โ€” we do not simply slow down. We stumble over what we ourselves put in the path.

The antidote is not less ambition. It is rightly ordered ambition โ€” the kind Proverbs 16:9 describes: *"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."*

Walk with wisdom. Let your stride be lengthened by grace, not shortened by self-reliance.

There is a difference between a man running his plans and a man whose steps are established by God โ€” and that difference is worth sitting with today.
