**Genesis 31:22** โ *"On the third day Laban was informed that Jacob had fled."*
Three days. That is the distance God built between Jacob and the man who had deceived him for twenty years.
This is not coincidence โ it is covenant protection in motion. Laban rose with fury and pursued. But God had already spoken to him in a dream: *"Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad"* (Genesis 31:24). The head start was mercy. The silence commanded of Laban was grace.
Scripture reminds us that God does not always remove the pursuer immediately. Sometimes He simply grants enough distance for His purposes to be fulfilled. The three days were not Jacob's cleverness โ they were God's stewardship of a promise made at Bethel years before (Genesis 28:15).
Consider the quiet ways the Shepherd moves ahead of you, clearing the path before you even know the danger was close.
