**Genesis 14:9** β€” *"against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasarβ€”four kings against five."*

Four kings against five. The odds were noted. The names were recorded. And somewhere in that valley of Siddim, a man named Lot found himself caught between empires he never chose.

Scripture reminds us that Abram's covenant life did not shield his nephew from the chaos of a fallen world β€” but it did mean someone was coming. When the news reached Abram, he did not calculate the odds. He gathered his household and moved toward the danger.

Stewardship of those entrusted to us rarely waits for favorable conditions. The kings were many. The risk was real. And yet mercy moved first.

Walk with those in your care into the hard places. The math of the world rarely accounts for what covenant loyalty will do.
