**2 Samuel 16:20** โ€” *"Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, 'Give me counsel. What should we do?'"*

A throne seized in rebellion, and the first act is to ask for wisdom. The bitter irony here cuts deep โ€” Absalom had the ambition to take, but lacked the wisdom to lead. He reached for counsel *after* the coup, not before. This is the pattern of pride: act first, seek wisdom second.

Scripture reminds us that Proverbs 4:7 commands, *"The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom."* Not power. Not position. Wisdom first.

And yet โ€” even Absalom's question points us toward something true. Every leader, every steward, every soul carrying responsibility must eventually ask: *What should we do?* The difference lies in *whom* we ask.

Proverbs 3:5 anchors us: *"Trust in the LORD with all your heart."*

Let us reflect on where we bring our hardest questions โ€” and whether we arrive there before or after we've already decided.
