**Jeremiah 48:8** โ€” *"The destroyer will come against every city, and not one town will escape. The valley will also be ruined, and the high plain will be destroyed, as the LORD has said."*

Moab had built its confidence in geography โ€” the valleys were defensible, the high plains felt untouchable. Elevation and terrain were their theology. But the Lord's word reached both the lowland and the summit with equal precision.

We do this too. We place our trust in the *structure* of our circumstances โ€” the stable career, the healthy body, the familiar routine โ€” and quietly assume that what feels elevated is safe from ruin.

Jeremiah's oracle over Moab is not cruelty. It is covenant clarity: no fortress we build with our own hands stands outside God's sovereign reach. Proverbs 21:30 confirms it โ€” *"There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD."*

Let us reflect on where we have confused elevation with security.
