**Matthew 22:32** โ€” *"'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living."*

Notice what Jesus does here. He doesn't construct a philosophical argument for resurrection โ€” He quotes a verb tense. Present tense. *I am* โ€” not *I was.* When God spoke to Moses at the burning bush, Abraham had been in the grave for centuries, yet God still claimed him as His own in the living present.

This is covenant language at its most precise. God does not steward the dead โ€” He abides with the living. And those bound to Him by covenant *remain* living in His sight, regardless of what the grave holds.

The Sadducees thought they had cornered Him with a riddle about marriage. Instead, they received a lesson in how deeply God holds those who are His.

Let us reflect on what it means to be held โ€” not remembered, but *held* โ€” by the God who speaks in present tense.
