**Isaiah 28:14** โ€” *"Therefore hear the word of the LORD, O scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem."*

The prophet's words land like a gavel. Not addressed to pagans in distant lands โ€” but to the leaders *inside* the covenant community. Those who had heard the Law, recited the psalms, and still chose mockery over mercy.

This is the particular weight of spiritual privilege: the closer we dwell to God's word, the sharper our accountability. The scoffers in Jerusalem were not ignorant โ€” they were *willful*. They had traded the covenant for clever arrangements with death (see Isaiah 28:15).

Stewardship of truth is never merely intellectual. It shapes how we shepherd others, how we speak in rooms where decisions are made, how we carry authority without corrupting it.

Scripture reminds us that God addresses leaders *first* โ€” not to shame, but to reclaim.

Let those who have been entrusted with much, walk carefully before the One who gave it.
