**1 Samuel 28:11** โ€” *"Bring up Samuel," he replied.*

Saul stood at the edge of desperation โ€” stripped of God's counsel, armies closing in, heaven silent. So he turned to a medium at Endor and spoke a name he had no right to summon.

What strikes me here is not the occult detail but the *direction* of his yearning. Saul wanted Samuel. He wanted the prophet, the covenant voice, the word of the LORD โ€” but he sought it through a forbidden door because he had already closed the legitimate one through disobedience.

Grief and desperation do not justify any path. Scripture reminds us that God's silence is itself a form of speech โ€” one Saul had earned through years of half-obedience.

The same covenant God who was unavailable to Saul at Endor remains fully present to those who walk in faithfulness.

Let us reflect on which doors we approach when heaven feels quiet.
