**2 Chronicles 23:20** โ€” *"And he took with him the commanders of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers of the people, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD and entered the royal palace through the Upper Gate. They seated King Joash on the royal throne."*

Notice what precedes the throne: the house of the LORD. Joash does not simply ascend to power โ€” he is *brought down* from sacred ground into royal duty. The sequence is deliberate. Worship first. Authority second.

Jehoiada the priest understood what many rulers forget โ€” legitimate leadership is not seized from below, it is received from above. The covenant people walked Joash from God's presence into governance, ensuring the crown was never separated from the altar.

Steward what you lead as though you carried it down from holy ground, because by grace, you did.

Let us reflect on what we place *before* the seat of our own authority.
