**Judges 20:4** โ€” *"So the Levite, the husband of the murdered woman, answered: 'I and my concubine came to Gibeah in Benjamin to spend the night.'"*

A man stands before an assembly of Israel and speaks truth about the darkest night of his life. Notice what the text does not do โ€” it does not soften his account, nor does it shield the community from the weight of it. Covenant people must sometimes hear hard testimony before they can act with righteousness.

This is the pastoral reality of accountability: silence protects no one. The Levite's witness, however painful, set the entire nation in motion toward justice. Scripture reminds us that truth spoken in covenant community โ€” even grievous truth โ€” is an act of mercy, not cruelty.

Walk with those who testify honestly. Their courage is often the first stone laid on the path toward restoration.
