**Jeremiah 26:9** โ€” *"How dare you prophesy in the name of the LORD that this house will become like Shiloh and this city will be desolate and deserted! And all the people assembled against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD."*

The crowd did not gather to weigh the word โ€” they gathered to silence it.

This is the cost Jeremiah bore: faithfulness that looked, to the comfortable, like betrayal. He stood inside the very house he warned would fall, surrounded by those who loved the institution more than the God who inhabited it.

Scripture reminds us that the prophet's calling was never to be agreeable โ€” it was to be accurate. Truth spoken in covenant love will sometimes draw opposition from the people it was meant to protect.

Consider the Jeremiahs in your own community. They are not always loud. They are often the ones standing still while the crowd assembles.

May we have the wisdom to listen before we assemble.
